Vimtutor: Learn vim the easy way
Nov 24th
I learned vim the hard way e.g. started with nano, kept hearing from my seniors about vim, tried it once in a while, shifted to it and tried to survive, kept learning stuff with the need and time and now i know vim enough for my daily use. Lucky you, you now know vimtutor, go on, open a terminal window, and run this, its a great resource to get you started.
Interface Aliases: a great concept
Nov 24th
Recently i came across a scenario where we have a huge LAN of windows machines and we wanted to have some of them become unable to locate/browser/view other machine on network. There were a lot of solutions possible but i went with the interface aliases, created a new eth0:0, assigned static IP, assigned windows IP, used the IP of alias interface as proxy to browsers (as squid does run on the reserved, which in my case is a given most of the time.) and voila, everything works as required.
WordPress wins Open Source CMS Award
Nov 18th
I was very excited last week to learn that WordPress has been awarded the Overall Best Open Source CMS Award in the 2009 Open Source CMS Awards. This is a landmark for us, as it is the first time we’ve won this award, and it marks a shift in the public perception of WordPress, from blog software to full-featured CMS. No small contest, the Open Source CMS Awards received over 12,000 nominations and more than 23,000 votes across five categories.
