of 2005 when i was wasting my time after my matriculations exams. One day one of my cousin told me about the Linux revolution and asked me to utilize my time by getting into it. He told me about the government mood towards Open Source and i got familiar with OSRC. Then one of the great Linux Geek a professor at Sir Syed University Karachi taught me to use RedHat Linux 9. There were two other university students. I learned Linux installation, file system, simple commands, server, configuration ,drivers installation and Routing. I was fascinated by the power of linux. I took the classes for 2 months and then i was off for my college. But still a admirer of linux i used to do pangas
with my PC, and often my sister quarrelled with me on the matter of installing a (stupid, as most microslaves call it) Linux on the system. Finally my fate brought me to PIEAS, and in the orientation week i got introduced to COSP. When i heard the word Linux my mind went flying back 2years when i used to be a great Linux student. Well i applied to join COSP, got interviewed by Mr. Shoaib. Funny thing was i told him that i have a practice on all server including Zebra, which he corrected that its a routing tool(Well a hell it is , i learned that it was developed by two Pakistani origin students in USA, correct me if i am wrong). Well they made me a member of the Planning and Management team and today i am a responsible member of COSP and i am proud of it...
Zindabad Open Source! Zindabad COSP
Well as a consequence of joining COSP, my batchmates almost shunned the theory of Open Source as they dont want to learn something that is a bit difficult but powerful. Its our nature as we look for easy shortcuts and forgive the longterm benefit. Well I am nicknamed Open Source
in my circle of friends. But i like it ,because a day will come when they will understand the Philosophy and Power of Open Source.
